Have you ever considered seeing the autumn leaves in Kyoto at night? It's not just about standing and enjoying the lighting scenes. The surprising thing is that you'll be riding the Eizan railway with a panoramic view and get to see maple leaves along the way.

When the train passes through the Momiji tunnel, the staff turns off the lights, and it feels like being enveloped in darkness. It makes me imagine that I am in a Ghibli film, where I might stumble upon strange and fascinating places and meet interesting characters.

After taking the train to pass this spot, you can also visit famous places in Kyoto, like the Kifune Shrine, which is the next destination.

Houkyouin Temple is located in one of the top three crowded tourist spots in Kyoto, Arashiyama. You might be concerned about whether it's worth visiting due to the potential large crowds.

But let me tell you, this garden is delicately cared for and is too beautiful to describe, especially since there aren't too many people around.

When I was at university, I visited Jingoji Temple because it was not far from my university. That was a great decision because it's so beautiful. It's located amidst the mountains, so you can enjoy an easy hike for a bit.

There are also traditional teahouses along the way where you can enjoy some tea amidst the beautiful Kyoto autumn leaves.

This place also offers unique scenery with its vibrant red leaves, ancient temple, and a small pond filled with beautiful koi fish.

From my experience, Eikando Temple tends to attract many tourists, making it busier than other places. However, the sight of stunning Kyoto autumn leaves makes it worthwhile.

Among the red leaves, ginkgo leaves are also stunning with their golden yellow shade, painting the city with a warm and chill ambiance. Especially at Iwato Ochiba Shrine, a giant ginkgo tree requires you to tilt your head up to see the top part of the tree.

This abandoned shrine is believed to have existed since the Heian period. It is located on the northern side of Kyoto city and can be reached by local bus.
