Explore Kyoto’s Nanatani River, a hidden paradise where 1,500 cherry blossoms create an unforgettable spring spectacle.
Kyoto has numerous cherry blossom spots that feel like a natural paradise. One of the best places to enjoy the cherry blossoms in Kyoto is the Nanatani River. It's situated in the countryside, surrounded by rice fields, mountains, and waterfalls, making it ideal for experiencing the beauty of cherry blossoms.
Where is Kyoto's Nanatani River
Kyoto's Nanatani River is situated around 20 kilometers from Arashiyama.
It's cool because there are 1,500 cherry trees, specifically the Somei-Yoshino variety, lining the river. That’s why it’s become a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in Kyoto!
Around 1 Km Cherry Blossom Tunnel
Upon arrival, a pristine white tunnel greets you, inviting you to wander beneath the cherry blossoms.
This place offers stunning and relaxing moments. Couples enjoy a sweet walk under the beautiful cherry blossoms, which bloom like fluffy cotton. Many people bring their pets to take pictures under the shade of cherry blossoms.
Waterfall and Cozy Picnic Area
Walking to the waterfall area, there is a spacious place where people picnic. Children enjoy climbing outdoors and running around, while families gather under the breathtaking cherry trees on weekends.
This area left me in awe. Cherry trees bend toward the waterfall and river, creating a breathtaking view. Believe it or not, I felt as if I were lost in a heavenly and spiritual place.
